Muay Thai

A few posts ago I mentioned that I had started photographing Muay Thai kick boxing.  Here is an image from that shoot.  It was my first time ever seeing the sport live much less photographing it and it really had me captivated.  Through out the night, during each fight, a live band would play what sound almost like snake charming music and it created a buzz in the air that words and images can not explain.  To add to it, the fans, the people betting and the corner men all screamed and shouted with so much adrenaline that there were moments I forgot that I was there photographing and I had to simply watch.  Perhaps this is all because it was my first time, but it really struck a chord.

The posted image is was take after this fighter fought his match, which he lost.  He was the only one in the back stage area except for this young boy, helping care and bring the beaten fighter back to life.  They take such strong powerful kicks to the legs the fighters themselves remind me of oak trees. I am looking forward to continue working on this project.
