Subtlety is something many of my favorite portrait photographers seem to share and lately its something I have been trying to incorporate a little more into my work. I think the word, “grace”, often describes what I am attracted to in portraiture. Richard Avedon, one of my favorites, effortlessly captured this in both his fashion and portraiture. He has had a major influence in my work and when I was in NYC a few weeks ago, I had to stop by ICP for his current retrospective, covering 40 years of fashion photography.
